‘the MK1′

April 2nd, 2010 by shak

Miles and Raiss came up from canberra today to pickup Raiss’s car. While Raiss and his bro went out, I caught up with Miles to go have a look at a old little swift. Little did we know that this little swift would become one of the funniest/scariest/randomest stories of our lives.

The story goes, a week before the guys came down, Miles showed me an ad on ebay for a Mk1 Suzuki Swift for $900. With his foz daily about to run out of rego, he decided he would look at the car and if tidy, swap some cash for the keys. Since he had no transport in Sydney, and most of all we hadn’t hung out in quite a while,I offered to take him down to see the car.

The day started off pretty normal, I met Miles at maccas near my place and we made our way to go have a look at the car. An hour later and we had turned into this dodgy as all hell no through road. Adament to see this car we continue and pull into this driveway. We had found the place although the lot looked nothing like the ad on ebay. Still we continued.

Parked on the left side of the lot besides about 4 other cars was the Mk1. Looking around the car we had noticed that it didn’t look exactly like the car in the ad, About 5 minutes had passed and no one came out to say anything. We had a look at the car what did look very 80′s retro cool. Although we did notice that the car smelt of urine, which was pretty concerning. But that was only the start of concerning matters sorrounding this car yard…

Miles and I did notice a 20 foot shipping crate. This wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for a car dealership as alot of them store parts and stuff in there, what happened next though was not normal at all! Out of the shipping crate walked out a lady who must’ve been in her mid 30′s. She was barefoot, in a really messed up dress and started washing her feet outside this shipping crate. Miles and I were like WTF>!

By now we were both pretty confused and freaked out as we have NO clue what sort of car yard was. The hooker lady (we were both pretty sure she was a hooker) walked back into the shipping crate and emerged a few minutes later with a plastic bag and a purse. She locked up the shipping crate and walked right past us. The two of us decided to ditch the car and leave this car yard.

We walked out only to see the hooker lady squatting under a tree doing something we did not want to know about! And that is the story of ‘The Mk1′

formula one is back

March 15th, 2010 by shak

its back! Finally the F1 season 2010 season has started. Last year was so exciting so I could not wait for the new season to get underway. With new teams, new drivers and new rules, I hope Button can come first this year.

Metin, Sam and Fielding came down to watch the first race, which was sadly very very late in the evening. Alot of redbull needed to be consumed. Midrace Metin and Fielding ended up falling asleep. Although the first race wasn’t as action packed as I hoped, its great to see the series back.

happy birthday dilshan

March 14th, 2010 by shak

one party done, one to go. DIlly was turning 22 today so we were having a get together at his house. I woke up and drove down south to pickup ron from his place. He had to build a computer for a client so we threw everything into the skyline (albeit with a stripped interior) and made our way to Dilshan’s.

I had to make a quick stop at a woolworths to get some ingredients for some stuff id be making for the BBQ. Once everything was brought ron and I made the trek from campbelltown to glenwood.

By the time we got there, the guys were already hanging out. Ron got going on the PC while I got cracking on the foods. Being abit skeptical about how the weather might turn out, Sam and I erected the new gazebo that was brought.

It took ages to get my fully awesome legendary rocket, basil, roma tomatoes and bococini salad. Dilshans mum helped me getting the tandoori chicken and paneer (cottage cheese) skewers ready.

More people came and the bbq was going hard. The night continued on with quite a few drinks and some dancing and chilling out. As the night progressed, our good friend Johnnie Walker came out dressed in gold as did some Sri Lankan Arak.

It was now pretty late at night so we decided to cut the cake and had out the gift that we all chipped in for. After everyone in the room got a facefull of cake, we passed over the gift to dilshan. He ripped apart the wrapping and found the new clarion headunit for his car.

The night turned into day and we all woke up blurry eyed and nursing hangovers and sore backs from the awkward sleeping positions we got up and cleaned up. Since F1 was later this evening and I had to drop ron home, we left early. Everything finished off real nice and we all had awesome food. Happy birthday dilly, hope you like the gift :)

happy birthday muzz

March 12th, 2010 by shak

today was Mark C’s birthday and the plan was for a few of the guys to hit up the city for some dinner and drinks. The evening started with me being fashionably late due to work duties.

Everyone was waiting at a Japanese restaraunt in pyrmont. I made my way to the restaraunt. Waiting there, beers in hand, were Mark, Sandra, Jase, Daz and Mark’s friend from canada, Serg.

After a few beers we made our way back to Mark’s place before heading to Lowenbrau. While Serg was getting ready, Mark whipped out the axe and started strumming away. After a few minutes he even started serenading Darren.

We all got ready and hopped in a maxi taxi and drove down to the Rocks. All of us were having a bite when Jason’s mate (known as anaconda hehe) came to the party. Mark had a good time stirring the waitress and insinuating that she should sleep with me haha. The meals were awesome and we eventually left the brau.

Mark, Sandra, Jason, Anaconda and Serg went off to MG’s while daz and I called it early and made our way back home. I still had another long night coming up. It was a truly awesome night, had a bit of canadian doucheness but apart from that, was a top night! Happy birthday Muzz.

sam’s sisters wedding – showtime

March 7th, 2010 by shak

once again we were abit late but thankfully not everyone was there. Extension cable in hand we quickly got power to the dj setup and had a quick soundcheck. With everything working we could finally relax and enjoy the night. The rest of the guys came down and we started with the beats. Not too long after we were there, 3 tough hot rods rocked up with the bride and bridesmaids. The ceremonial formalities were over quickly and the food and drinks were out.

Everyone was having a great time and we all were feeling nice and chilled. Earlier doubts about weather had passed as we realised how great the weather really was. It wasn’t until later during the night when we got abit stressed. Turns out the music we had provided to us wasn’t enough and we had already gone through all the songs. We thought we were saved as metin had tracktor running on his laptop but sadly 90% of the songs he had were, put simply, unsuitable for a wedding. Thankfully after a quick run to the skyline and back, I had a few songs that were suitable enough. A quick dump of the songs on my fone also helped.

The cherry ontop of the awesome night was the tough car that was hired for the newfound husband and wife to depart in. A original Shelby GT500 Mustang convertible. This thing was straight up stunning!

All the best adam and rima, looks like its sam’s turn next :P

sam’s sisters wedding – the setup

March 7th, 2010 by shak

a while back sam (one of my good mates, solid mofo too) informed us that his sister Rima was getting married. Instintivly the guys all offered to help out so the day finally came and it was time to get into action. Metin and ron (Dj Elektron) had the duties to provide the tunes so we got up nice and early to setup. The day started with me waking up late because of the long night before. Freaking out I quickly got ready and jumped into the skyline and booted it down to pickup metin.

Metin was pretty happy that I was late as it allowed him to have breakfast. Once the skyline was loaded up with all the needed gear we proceeded down to campbelltown to meet with ron and head down to the venue to setup. Since I was already over an hour late we had to quickly load up the skyline with ron’s speakers, amp, cdj’s and KORG mixer. After KO’ing myself on the scaffolding infront of ron’s house we made our way down to the venue what was not too far away.

The venue itself was a marquee next to the lake in the Mount Annan Botanical Gardens. The trek to the marquee was pretty fun as I was allowed to drive the skyline on the footpath. We got there where sam was waiting for us and unloaded the car. The marquee was looking pretty awesome with the funky lights and chairs and all.

Once everything was done Metin and I realised that we didn’t have enough cable to have the speakers far enough to adequetly cover the marquee. Instantly we were on the phone with ron to see what we could do. Metin and I were about 2 minutes away from coming back to my house, getting the CX9 and getting metins speakers before ron had the brilliant idea to just…. go buy some longer cables lol.

Ron started searching where to buy the cables from while metin and I went and got the wedding present on behalf of the entire BBI crew. We settled on a pretty pimp coffee machine. After getting the present and speaker cable, we quickly got ready and went back to the marquee to wire everything up and make sure everything was working fine. We then sadly realised that we needed an extension cable that we did not have with us. I was able to quickly reel off some shots of the skyline in a nice location. The call was made (due to timing constraints) that we would go back to rons, get ready then come back with the extension cable in time for the start of the celebrations…

getting naked

March 7th, 2010 by shak

had one of ‘those’ weeks this week so I decided to remove my interior to fix some problems with my audio setup in the skyline. Looks like i’ll be driving with a stripped interior for a few weeks now…..

phat ein abendessen (one phat dinner)

February 20th, 2010 by shak

dinner with some of the rba has been well overdue so yesterday I made my way into the city to meet with some of the guys. By the time I got to the Leagues club, Mark c, daz and linafail were chillin out with beers in hand. One kilkenny down and we all left and made our way to the rocks for dinner.

It was such a stunning day so we started walking down, talking shiet and taking in…… the sights. We got to Lowenbrau to find out that the place was packed and we had to wait for a table. So with nothing else to do the four of us went and brought some steins. The glasses were so heavy that two cute ladies let us join their table while we waited.

Jason and Josie joined us right after we were allocated a table. Fielding joined us shortly after and it was a pretty awesome night kicking back and taking it nice and easy. The food was fantastic. Most of the guys went for a massive pork knuckle while I went for something vege. German food is off the hook and the servings were massive! The desert was tasty as too.

Most of the night was spent talking about some random shit and cracking jokes everywhere. Feel sorry for some of the people around us having to listen to all the fucked up shit we were talking about though haha…

The night ended with an epic trip home dropping off linafail, daz and fields. Can’t wait to have another get together like this!

powerplay & bondi

February 13th, 2010 by shak

ever since I brought the HR31, I wanted to go see Powerplay Imports to see what they had in stock for the Skyline. With a day free, I swung by Metin’s and picked him up. We made our way towards the city for some feed. PowerPlay are located on victoria road in Drummoyne near some boat shop. Thankfully they had a Cusco Brake Cylinder Stopper in stock so I parted with 120bucks and we were off on our way.

With plans to have lunch at Yumcha held off, we decided to drive up to Bondi to hit up some good ol fashioned pub food. Driving up Oxford Street we passed what seemed like the entire BMW range but finally made it to the beaches of bondi. We parked the skyline at a carpark what didnt want to take our money and went to the hotel along the water. After a good pub meal, we decided to make our way back west where we came home to fit my new addition to the skyline.

photoshoot with some nissans

January 22nd, 2010 by shak

during work today I was speaking with brenno who was going into Platinum Car Audio this weekend to get his audio setup installed. Since Birhan did not have any proper photos of his car, he suggested that we head down after work and grab some shots.

He met me at my place where we headed down the road to a nearby industrial area where we found a nice little spot to reel off some snaps.
